School Closures

The Premier and the Department of Education have made the decision to bring the school holidays forward from
Tuesday, March 24th until Wednesday, April 15th
This means that the last day of term will be on Monday March 23rd at 3.30 p.m.
All students will be sent home with a pack of activities that can be completed while they are usually at school. Included is a suggested daily schedule for students and families to follow. Students who have been absent from school, can pick up their “Learning From Home “pack. Please see office staff .

Students working from home is called remote learning. Remote learning means that learning can still continue, whilst not at school. This could include activities that can be written in an exercise book, creative activities, online websites and reading.
Our current advice is that term 2 will begin on Wednesday, April 15th at 8.50 a.m. Tuesday will be student-free day for staff, who will be working at school.
If you have any questions at all, please call the Office and ask to speak to Mrs Moore or Mrs Fisher.

Some awesome news!

Some awesome news!
I hope families had the opportunity to read the Herald Sun article and The Age article/photo. We have placed copies of both articles around our great school.
Basically, our NAPLAN results from last year were amazing! Your children/our teachers, have been producing
some fantastic results over the years, but 2019 was our best. Spring Parks was one of only two schools who
demonstrated achievements well above expectations in Year 5 in the areas of Numeracy (mathematics), Reading
and Writing. You can see all of our results on the My School website. Just type in
the name of our school when you open the link and our results will be displayed.

Safety of our students

Parents, please remember not to park in the staff car park to drop off, or pick up your child/children. We have staff members leaving at various times, and they aren’t on the lookout for children and parents who are walking through to get to their car. Please park out in the street so that our children remain safe.

School begins 2019

Merry Christmas everyone!

Don’t forget school starts Thursday, 31st of January 2019 for a 8:50am start.

Remembrance Day

Each year on November 11th, people around the world think back over the past and have a minute’s silence for those men and women who fought in the many wars that have taken place. As a school, we have a special assembly. This year the school made paper poppies and placed them in the ground near the flag pole. We Will Remember Them.

Each year we give the Foundation students for the following year the opportunity of spending some time at their new school – before the year begins. If you know of a family with a child who turns five years old before the 30th of April 2019, then they are eligible to start school. Please let them know that we are taking enrolments now for next year.

Noble Park Art Show

On Friday 19th October the Noble Park Community Centre Art Show commenced with students and members of the local community being invited to the official opening.

During this time the opportunity to view all the great work developed by students from primary and secondary schools along with community members were available. The range of artwork was impressive and I would like to thank the Art teachers who worked with the students to create their pieces for display. They also spent some time down at the Noble Park Community Centre working on displaying the work of our students.

I would like to say congratulations to Michaela who was presented with an Encouragement Award along with receiving a prize for her artwork. Well done!

Sporting News

We took our softball team to the Division Finals last Thursday at Silverton Primary School. The results were 12 to 3 against Clayton South Primary School and our boys team won. They will now play in the regional final on November 7th. Well done team! Good luck with your next game.

School Review

As most families know, our school is currently reviewing our progress over the past four years – measured against our School Strategic Plan. We held a Validation Day on October 25th, where our school reviewer, our School Education Improvement Leader, our School Council President, two local Principals and our School Improvement Team met for the day to begin the review. All of the work beforehand, and over the next couple of weeks will culminate in our new School Strategic Plan which will set our direction for the next four years. Our new plan will be presented to School Council early in 2019.
