Dandenong Market Excursion

On Tuesday the 26th of July, the year 5 and 6 students visited the Dandenong Market in preparation for their own market days happening later in the term. We took a tour of the different areas of the market such as the meat, fish and deli section, fruit and vegetables section, pantry section, bazaar section and cafe. We observed the way they set up their stalls, the products they were selling and the way they interacted with their customers. We also had time to be in the role of the customer. We had so much fun and learnt a lot from the excursion.

I’m sure that every family has been inundated with excursion notices! Normally, the children attend one or two excursions each term, but through our association with the Woodleigh School and Ardoch, we have been offered some free excursions, so this has enabled the teachers to complement what they have been studying in class, with some free experiences. Every time we venture away from the classroom, this offers our students a valuable avenue to extend their vocabulary and oral language. They also have a ‘real life’ experience to write about back in the classroom. Thank you for your support in supporting our students to attend these excursions.
Don’t forget that CSEF can be used and if you are having difficulty with payment, please approach the Office with your request.

School Photos Update

Apologies for the delay in getting the school photos home to families. Mrs Simpson has been in constant contact
with the company, but they have had staffing issues due to COVID and the flu. They’ve been quite short staffed and have struggled to get them out on time. However, the good news is that they should be arriving at our school in the next week or so. As soon as they’ve been delivered, they’ll be sent home with your child.

STOMP / Concert

This dance program started last Monday, and from the look on the children’s faces, it is a hit! Concert notices will be coming home soon. Tickets will be $5.00 each for each family member, excluding Spring Parks students. Our concert is held at the Springvale Town Hall and it is on Wednesday, September 14th. We spend the day on Wednesday at the hall, having a full rehearsal for the night. I hope to see as many families there as possible, as we’ve had to postpone it for the past two years.
