Spring Parks Primary School has recently received some good news from ACARA (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority), regarding recent NAPLAN information.
ACARA has identified our school as having demonstrated substantially above average gain in reading and/or numeracy achievement, as measured by NAPLAN. They went on to say:
On behalf of ACARA, I would like to extend my congratulations to you and your school community on this achievement. Improvement in student literacy and/or numeracy of this magnitude, as measured by NAPLAN, is significant and worthy of highlighting and acknowledging.
As you know, ACARA publishes the latest data on Australian schools on the My School website each year. The 2018 update will have a new look website will include:
- 2017 NAPLAN results for schools
- 2017 school profile and population data
- 2016 school financial information, including capital expenditure and sources of funding.
Since 2013, ACARA has been releasing information on schools that demonstrate substantially above average gain in their NAPLAN results, as student’s progress from Year 3 to Year 5 and from Year 7 to Year 9.
The wonderful gains the school has been made would not have been possible without the support of the school community, including classroom teachers, integration aides and volunteers.
This special day falls on March 21st every year, and this year we will be celebrating Harmony Day on March 23rd, by focusing on the theme “Everyone Belongs”. Please encourage your children to dress in cultural costumes or a touch of orange, which is the colour of Harmony Day.
Students from Valley Campus will be walking to West Campus before the first break for a whole school assembly at 10.00 a.m. At 11.55, students will be making kites in the Units.
Parents and the community are invited to come along and make a kite with their child. We will then head out to the oval to fly our kites. We are looking forward to celebrating Harmony Day with the school community.
For those families with a child in grade 6, you will be receiving your Year 7 transition pack at the start of term two. The school’s Transition coordinator, will be making sure that you have all of the information you need to choose a secondary school for 2019.
